Donald Ruben Drum II

 

     Donald R. Drum, II, 53, of Lorain passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic following a long illness.

    

     Mr. Drum was born in Lorain on May 4, 1957, the son of the late Donald R and Dora M (nee Anthony) Drum. A lifelong resident of Lorain and Sheffield Lake. Mr. Drum graduated from Lorain High School in the Class of 1976.

    

     He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Lorain and served as an usher. He retired in 2009 from US Steel with 30 years of service. In the mid 1980's, he also worked at Jefferson Trucking.

    

     Mr. Drum was a member of the Sons of The American Legion at the American Legion Post 30 in Lorain, and the United Steelworker's Union Local 1104. He enjoyed doing various tasks around his home, especially working in his yard and garden. He was an avid sports fan, and never gave up on the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed fishing, taking walks and listening to classic rock and roll, his favorite being the band, Pink Floyd.

    

     He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rita J. (nee Baumert) Drum, daughters Rachel A Drum, Emily A Drum, Sophia A Drum all of Lorain, sisters Laura Kaspirek, Robin Artidiello both of Lorain, Cindy Dessenberg of Mt. Vernon, Becky Geon of Rockledge, FL; brother Eric Drum of Riverside, CA, his father-in-law, Gene Baumert of Lorain and several nieces and nephews.

    

     Friends may call anytime Monday, April 4, 2011 between 2-9 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. The family will be at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. only.

    

     A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 10:00 am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave, Lorain, with Father Richard Hudak, celebrant and Deacon Patrick Humphrey assisting.

    

     The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the St. Anthony's Church or School, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain, Ohio 44052.
