Earl M. James
Earl M. James, 95, of Port Richey, FL, formerly of Lorain died on Tuesday,
August 10, 2010 at the Bayonet Regional Medical Center in Hudson Florida
after a brief illness.
Mr. James was born in Cleveland on July 17, 1915, the son of the late
Walter Merton and Grace Abigal (nee Barrett) James. He graduated from
Lorain High School in the class of 1933.
He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, attaining the rank
of staff sergeant. He served with the US Strategic Air Force-Pacific in
Hawaii. He was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, The American
Campaign Medal, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II
Victory Medal.
He enjoyed golfing, collecting stamps and
listening to classical music.
Mr. James was a retired general accountant with the US Postal service
in Lorain. He retired in 1973. He worked at the American Stove Works
before the post office.
While living in Lorain, Earl was a member of the former Emmanuel United
Methodist Church where he served in many leadership roles and as head usher
for over 25 years.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, William J. Broz, Sr. of Lorain
and 13 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters
Mildred L. "Lynn" Broz and Jean Kesselring, Ruth in infancy, brothers Paul
and William.
Friends may call Monday, August 16, 2010 from 10:00 am until services
at 11:00 in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W 5th
St, Lorain.
Funeral Services at 11:00 am Monday, in the funeral home will be
followed by burial in the Avon City Cemetery, corner of State Route 83 &
State Route 254 in Avon with full military honors provided jointly by the
American Legion Post 30 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.
