Betty J. Sullivan

     Betty J. Sullivan, 88, (nee Kneisel) of Lorain died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the New Life Hospice of St. Joseph in Lorain following a brief illness.

     Mrs. Sullivan was born in Toledo, Ohio on May 21, 1921, the daughter of the late Carl and Eva (nee Marsh) Kneisel. She was a graduate of Sandusky High School Class of 1939 and in 1943 the M. B. Johnson School of Nursing, in Elyria. She was the valedictorian of her class and was offered a scholarship to Cornell University. Mrs. Sullivan retired in 1974 after working for the St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain and Drs. Rusin and Radefeld.

      Mrs. Sullivan is survived daughters Patricia A. DeBracy, Nancy G. (James) Molas both of Lorain, Pegi E. (Daniel) Gerbick of Avon Lake, 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a half sister Joanne Schaefer of Huron and cousins John and Ruth Gerold.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter Kathleen L Sullivan. 

     Graveside services were held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst. 

     The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to New Life Hospice, C/O Community Health Partners Foundation 3700 Kolbe Road Lorain, OH 44053-9905.

I wish to send my condolences to the Sullivan family, on the lost of your mother. Betty and Gene became good friends of mine over these last few years. I was glad I got to see and visit her at the hospital before her passing. She was so happy that my son and I payed her a visit, she began to cry over our love and concern. I was deeply touched and so happy when she said that we made her day. I will miss her friendship and her warm heart, may she rest in peace, God Bless her and you the family, Kenny Herda.
