Gerald H. Smith
Gerald H. Smith, 68, of Lorain died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at his home
following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Smith was born in Detroit, MI on January 21, 1941, the son of the
late Frank and Thelma B (nee Baucum) Smith. He was a veteran of the United
States Marine Corps. He was a retired security guard with Burns
International Security Services assigned to the Ford Motor Plant. He was
also a volunteer at Goodwill Industries and the Lorain Public Library.
He enjoyed helping others and feeding the squirrels.
He is survived by daughters Shannon M Hite, Sherri A Phillips both of
Vermilion, Cindy L Jagel of Youngstown, a son Paul F Smith of Huron, 7
grandchildren, 4 nephews, 2 nieces, brother-in-law Donald D. Olson of
Terrace Park and a sister-in-law Beverly Smith of Lake Placid, FL
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother
Donald Smith and a sister Pauline Olson.
Friends may call Thursday, June 4, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Schwartz,
Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain followed
by a Celebration of Life at 8:00 PM.
Burial will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman
at a later date.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the
American Lung Association, Northwest Region, 226 State Route 61 East,
