Warren
E. Finkel, 88 of Sheffield Lake died late Thursday evening, May 28, 2009
at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a
brief illness.
Mr. Finkel was born November 2, 1920 in Wellington, OH, the son of
the late Edward R. and Hazel F (nee Allen) Finkel. He was a graduate of
Lorain High School and received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from
Western Reserve University in 1950.
A US Navy veteran, he served his country during WW 2 aboard the
destroyer the USS Leary.
For over 50 years a noted area architect, Mr. Finkel's projects
included Lorain County Community College, Lorain Community Hospital,
Lorain City Hall, Lorain County School for Retarded Children, the YMCA,
and many others. He was Registered Architect in the states of Ohio,
Michigan, Florida, North Carolina and Indiana. He was retired as President
of F. K. M. Architects, Inc. of Lorain.
He was active in many local civic activities having served as:
President - Lorain Chamber of Commerce, Trustee - Lorain Community
Hospital, Vice President - Lorain County Regional Airport, Director -
Rotary Club of Lorain, Executive Board - Fireland's Council of the Boy
Scouts of America, and Chairman - United Appeal Fund Raising Drive.
Statewide he was a member of Governor Rhodes' Ohio Trade Mission to South
America and a member of the Ohio Commodore's, serving one term as Grand
Commodore. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, the
Architects Society of Ohio, and the Aircraft Owners - Pilots Association.
He owned and piloted his own plane, and loved to fish and play golf.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years Doris M. (nee Lustek), a
daughter, Deanna Korda of Bisbee, AZ, and a son, Dana Korda of San Diego,
CA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Janet
Collins.
Friends may call Monday, June 1, 2009 from 2-4 pm in the Schwartz,
Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio
44052. A Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 PM with Rev. Jimmy
Madsen, pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church as officiate.

Warren was a great
pilot and a friend of my father. I have fond memories of them both in the
twin Bonanza.I feel your loss.
