Blanche J. Zurinsky

Blanche J. Zurinsky, 88 (nee Zmitravich) of Vermilion, Ohio died Friday morning, August 1, 2008 at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Avon following a lingering battle with Alzheimer's.

Mrs. Zurinsky was born in DuBois, PA on March 3, 1920, to the late Gabriel and Martha (nee Arduskas) Zmitravich. She moved to the Lorain, Ohio area in 1939. She is a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Lithuanian Church in DuBois.

Blanche excelled in sewing, loved flowers, canning, crocheting and gardening with her husband. Her husband, along with her son, Tom, raised a few cattle and chickens. Her parents raised canaries for the mines in Pennsylvania, so Blanche loved birds and the out-of-doors. She traveled and camped with her daughter, Jean throughout the US and Canada. She loved receiving flowers and plants given to her each time her son, Bob, visited.

Mrs. Zurinsky is survived by her daughter Jean Connor of Lorain, Ohio, sons Thomas Zurinsky, with whom she made her home, and Robert Zurinsky both of Vermilion, Ohio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christine Connor, Shelene Gallagher, Douglas Zurinsky, Kris Zurinsky, great grandchildren Elizabeth "Erin" Connor, Devin Zurinsky, Chloe Zurinsky and Sydney Zurinsky.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred "Slim" Zurinsky in 2003, grandsons Bradley Connor in 2008 and William "Billy" Connor in 1999.

Services were Tuesday the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Lithuanian Church, 15 South Avenue, DuBois.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery, DuBois, PA.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers that floral donations be made to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home, 32900 Detroit Road, Avon, Ohio 4011 in honor of the excellent care Mrs. Zurinsky received while in her final days.

The Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain is handling the arrangements.
