Elizabeth “Betty” Palermo

 

     Elizabeth “Betty” Palermo died on July 8, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

     She was born May 9, 1924 in Jersey City, New Jersey.  Betty worked at Western Electric in New Jersey from 1942 to 1954 before moving to Lorain. She then joined the Ohio Bell Personnel Department until 1958. She retired from Lakeview Elementary School Library Media Center in 1985.

     She was a former member of the Rebman Rebels Bowling League and also enjoyed walking, knitting and Major League Baseball especially the Cleveland Indians. Betty’s family and friends greatly enjoyed her home-made baked goods. 

     Betty was a member of St Mary’s Church in Lorain.

     She is survived by her daughter Louise, a grandson Phillip and a granddaughter Lauren all of Colorado Springs, Colorado and five nieces and nephews in New Jersey. She was predeceased by her husband, Deputy Sheriff John Philip A. Palermo in 1964, a brother John and two sisters Eileen and Doris.

     Visitation will be held on Friday, July 25 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals  1124 5th St.

      A Funeral Mass  will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 9:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 309 W. 7th St.
