Marie E. Church   

 

 

    Marie E. Church, 64, (nee Alves) of Lorain died on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at her home following a long illness.


     Mrs. Church was born in Fall River, Mass on June 13, 1944, the daughter of the late John R Alves and Clara (nee Simons) Alves Jennings. She has lived in Lorain for the past 45 years.


     She worked as a case worker  at the Lorain County Dept of Human Services in Elyria for 10 years. Most recently she was a homemaker.


     She enjoyed all crafts but especially crocheting and  making Christmas Ornaments. 


     Mrs. Church is survived by her husband of 30 years, Charles G. Church, Jr, daughters Marion Cox of Akron, Gail Castro of Melbourne, FL, Michelle Gum, Lettie Rivers both of Lorain, Lisa (Steve) Ashby of Columbia, SC, Annette (Brandon) Vance of Charleston, WV, Sons Max Gum, Jr of Wellington,  Scott (Zara) Gum of Tampa, FL, garndchildren Talia, Alex, Niko, Madison, Mason, Kaleb, Tristin, Lance, Ryan, J. T., Frank, Julissa, Trinity, Xavier, Heaven, Jocelyn, great grandson Jalen, sister Marion (Freddie) Pagan of Lorain, brothers John (Gladys) Alves, Edward (jenny) Alves, Steve (Annie) Alves all of Lorain, Joseph Alves of Fall River, Mass.


     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Treasure Dougan and a brother Bobby Alves.


     Friends may call on Monday, December 1, 2008 from 4-7 PM in the Schwartz, Spence,  Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home with Rev Charles Macum, officiating.
