Edna T. Blumeier  

 

    Edna T. Blumeier,  age 83 (nee Tranquilla) of Amherst died early Saturday morning, January 19, 2008, at the Lake Pointe Health Center in Lorain following a long illness.


    Mrs. Blumeier was born in Derry, PA on July 21, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Laura (nee Boring) Tranquilla. She moved to Amherst following her marriage to the late Robert Blumeier.


     She was an active member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Amherst. Her varied church activities included teaching children's Sunday School. 


     While living in Pennsylvania, she had been employed at the Quaker Dry Cleaners. In Ohio she focused her career on her longtime love of children. She became a full-time caregiver for children. She also enjoyed her dogs, Whiskers and Susie. 


     Mrs. Blumeier is survived by her granddaughter Gretchen Stape, grandson Mathias & wife Barbara Packe both of Latrobe, PA, her daughter-in-law Adalgisa Packe of Latrobe, great grandchildren Logan Paxton,  Macie Bates, Elizabeth Stape, Tristan Stape, Sarah Stape, Deanna Smith, Mia Packe and a great great grandson Zane Paxton, a sister Gladys Fiorini, and a brother-in-law Marshall Fiorini.


     She is preceded in death by her son  Dale Packe in 2004, her first husband Donald Packe in 1958, and her second husband Robert Blumeier in 1983, two brothers Edward and Paul Tranquilla, and six sisters Alice Adams, Florence Fiorini, Dorothy Butler, Vinnie Boring, Rose McClain, and Virginia Pavone.


      Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, from 11:00 AM until funeral time.


     Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 23rd,  with Rev. Mark Pemberton, pastor of St. Peters United Church of Christ, officiating.


     Burial will be Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, Ohio.
