Allan Dean
Bair, 89 of Lorain passed away Friday, March 28, 2008 at New Life Hospice
Residential Center following a brief illness.
Allan was born April 24, 1918 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident
of the city.
He assumed the presidency of the Lorain Business College in 1957
after the death of his father who had originally bought the school in
1913. He continued in the capacity as president until his retirement in
1980.
Allan graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1936, graduated
from Lorain Business College and attended Gregg Teacher's College in
Chicago.
He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the 109th Evacuation
Hospital in charge of office records. He took part in the invasion of
Europe during the Battle of The Bulge on D-Day June 5, 1944.
Allan was a member of the Rotary Club of Lorain for 50 years, having
served as it's treasurer for multiple terms. He rang the Bell for the
Salvation Army and served on the Board of Goodwill Industries. He also was
a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.
He thoroughly enjoyed traveling, having traveled extensively over
five continents. He also relaxed by playing golf and tending his flowers
and magnificent lawn.
Allan is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anne, a son Robert Allan
and his wife Aileen, who are in Moscow, Russia, a doughtier Patricia and
her husband Dr. James VanKevren of Cleveland, six grandchildren, Peter
Bair and his wife, Joussa, David Bair, John Paul Bair, Stephen Bair and
his wife Becca, Michelle and her husband Drew Scott and Christie and her
husband Dale Murdoch.
Allan was preceded in death by his brother Harold in 1984 and his
parents Clarence Bair in 1957 and Helen Bair (Kilchenman) in 1939 and
Louise (nee Parker) in 1982.

Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio on Sunday, March 30, 2008 from
4-7 PM.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 31, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the
Christ United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road, Lorain, Ohio with Rev.
Matthew Darrin, officiating.
Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Twp.
