Darryl John
Szatala, 55, of Parma, formerly of Lorain died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at
the Rennaisse House-Cleveland Clinic Hospice in Olmsted Township following a
brief illness.
Mr. Szatala was born in Lorain, OH on October 21, 1951. He graduated
from Lorain High School-Class of 1969. He was a member of the DeMolay in
high school. He played two years at Lorain High. He continued playing
baseball in various summer leagues and subsequently was scouted by the
Orioles. In addition to his love for baseball (especially the Indians), he
enjoyed cars, fishing, his family, gardening and poker. He was an
accomplished cook and developed his own heart healthy dishes that he "taste"
tested on several Cleveland Clinic Physicians.
He attended the Parma Heights Baptist Church in Parma Heights. He began
his career as a car salesman. He moved into a general managers position and
continued into dealership development program with Ford Motor Corp. He was
charged with writing and developing several sales training programs. He
earned Ford's Sales Manager of the Year in 1985 & 1986.
Mr. Szatala is survived by his life partner Diane M. (nee Dobias)
Szatala, a daughter Brittany N. Szatala of Parma, son Jeremy J. Szatala of
Parma, his father John F. Szatala of Vermilion and a brother Kevin J.
Szatala of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his mother Evelyn H. (Tompos) Szatala.

Additionally, friends may call on Saturday, August 11, 2007 from 10:00
AM until funeral time at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Dan Barfell,
pastor of the Parma Heights Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst
Township, OH.
