  Joseph Shaw

 

     Joseph Shaw,  85 of Lorain died on Monday evening, November 26, 2007 at his home following a brief illness.


     Mr. Shaw was born in Glasgow, Scotland on May 5, 1922,  moving to Lorain in 1954.  He was a veteran of the British Army, Royal Tank Division, serving in Egypt and Italy. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Lorain.


     He worked for TRW and then for US Steel in Lorain as a machinist, retiring in 1982 after 15 years service.


     Mr. Shaw was a member of the Cosmopolitan Dance Club, Scottish Country Dance Club and the Lorain 400 Club.


     He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Catherine N. (nee McManan) Shaw, sons Bruce Shaw of Greensboro, NC, John Shaw of Sylvania, sister Nan Read of Fort Myers, FL, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild.


     He was preceded in death by his parents John and Annie (nee Davidson) Shaw.


     Friends may call on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH.


     Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 423 Washington Ave., Lorain, OH, with Rev. Carl Richter, senior pastor,  officiating.


     Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township, OH.


     The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to First Congregational United Church of Christ,  423 Washington Ave. Lorain, Ohio  44052 or New Life Hospice, c/o Community Health Partners Foundation, 3600 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio  44053.
