Jack W. Ruth

 

     Jack W. Ruth, 80 of Lorain died Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a brief illness.


     Mr. Ruth was born in Sandusky, OH on July 2, 1927. He has lived in Lorain since college graduation. He served in the US Army in WW II.  He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1945 and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati. He also attended Cornell University.


     He retired from US Steel as an accountant following more than 30 years service. He also worked part time as an accountant for Beaver Creek Marina.


     Mr. Ruth was a very active Mason belonging to Mid-Century Lodge # 725 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland, (Emertia Aide for numerous Potentates), Al Koran Shrine, Lorain County Shrine Club (treasurer for 37 years), Lorain County Shrine Fire Brigade, and Day Chapter of Order of Eastern Star.


       He was an avid traveler and sailed a total of 17 times with the Delta Queen Cruise Ship.


      He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Charlotte R. (nee Rust) Ruth , sister Joan R Welton of Sandusky and numerous nieces and nephews.


     Mr. Ruth was preceded in death by his parents Carl R and Helen E (nee Schoeneman) Ruth.


     Friends may call Friday, November 23, 2007 from  3-6 PM at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Masonic services by his lodge will be at 6:00 PM.


     Graveside services at Oakland Cemetery Chapel, 2917 Milan Road, Sandusky, Ohio, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 24th,  with Rev. Robert Machovec, Jr., pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church of Sandusky,  officiating.


     The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Shiners Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio   45229-3015 or the donor's favorite charity.
