Emerson L. Myers  

     Emerson L. Myers, 84 of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at EMH Regional Medical Center-Elyria Campus following a long illness.

 

     Mr. Myers was born in Ruble Mille, PA. on June 18, 1922. He moved to Lorain in 1949. He retired from USS/Kobe Steel after 18 years service. He worked on the blast furnaces. He enjoyed gardening, vintage automobiles and fishing.

 

     He was a decorated US Army veteran serving in WW II. He earned the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal with 3 bronze stars and the US Victory Medal. He saw action in the Rhineland, Ardenne and Central Europe Campaigns. He was a sergeant.

 

     Mr. Myers was a member of VFW Post 7219 in Fairchance, PA and the Open Hearth Club.

 

     He is survived by his wife of 49 years Christina M. (nee Newman) Myers, daughter Mary Myers-Boyd of Louisville, KY, son Emerson R. Myers of Lorain, 3 grandchildren, 2 step sons Gary and Bill Dryden both of Lorain and many other relatives and friends.

 

     He was preceded in death y his parents Howard R. and Mary Louise (nee Breakiron) Myers, Sister Alice Walters and brothers Bill Myers, Roy Myers and Walter Myers.

 

     Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Sunday, March 25 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

 

     Funerals services will be held on Monday at 1:30 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Nelson Sloan officiating.

 

     Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery-Lorain with full military honors provided jointly by American Legion Post 30 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 451.

 

     The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 43099 N. Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio  44035.
