Robert E. McComas

 

     Robert E. McComas, 84 of Lorain died early Friday morning, February 2, 2007 at his home unexpectedly.


     Mr. McComas was born in Huntington, W.Va. on March 11, 1922.  He moved to Lorain in 1951.  He was a US Navy veteran serving in the Seabees during WW II stationed at Point Mugu Naval Air Station, Oxnard, CA.


     He had been employed as a welder for American Ship Building. He retired from Famous Supply in 1984.


     Mr. McComas was a member of the Beacon Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading his Bible, gospel music and his grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of the DAV Chapter 20, Louis Proy Post.


      He is survived by his wife Nellie (nee Woods)  McComas to whom he was married on  August 10, 1940. Also surviving are his daughter Regaina S. Hall of Lorain, son Donald E. McComas of Lorain, 3 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren, sisters  Helen O'Neil of Barboursville, WV., Opal Johnson of Glenwood, WV., Janet Clark of Huntington, WV. and Maxine McSwain of El Paso Texas.
 


      He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Judith A. McComas on September 28, 2004,  his parents P. F. and Oakley (nee Lusher) McComas, sister Virginia Evelyn Coffman and a brother Raymond McComas.


     Friends may call on Sunday, February 4, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio.


     Additionally, friends may call on Monday, February 5, 2007 from 10:00 AM until funeral time at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Aaron Webb, pastor of  Beacon Baptist Church will officiate.


     Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain with full military honors provided by the D.A.V. Chapter 20, Louis Proy Post.
