I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Erdy's passing. I am so glad I had him in high school. I graduated in 1993. To this day I still talk about him and how he taught. He was so funny. Things he did and said at the time didn't make sense. Now as an adult and teacher, it makes perfect sense. I got to see him and Mrs. Erdy at a local place in Lorain about 10 or so years ago. He still remembered me. He said i was bright and promising. He made me feel that way. All i learned in math, and life, I owe to him. I get it now Mr. Erdy, "the answers are out there."  I use a quote of his just about each day. I will miss him allot. He was my favorite. I know he was one of a kind. Thank you Mrs. Erdy for sharing him with all us students all those years. Your family is in my prayers.

I was saddened to learn of Mr. Erdy's death. I was student of his at Firelands High School.  At the time of my father's death, Mr. Erdy was especially kind and concerned and I've never forgotten his thoughtfulness.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I am extremely grateful for the time I shared working with Paul Erdy. To me he was my Mentor. Much of my development as a Coach I owe to him. His knowledge, and viewpoint was a blessing for me to be around. As a young coach he had a tremendous amount of confidence in me and in my potential. That is something I have always  leaned on, and it's been a source of strength. Thank you Paul so much, for all that you were to me and for me. I will continue to think of you often.

Virginia,  I was saddened to learn of Paul's passing in last Friday's paper.  My wife and I were driving to VA to see a daughter and read our paper while at her house.  Since I was unable to make the visitation or funeral service, I wanted you to know you were in my thoughts and prayers.  I certainly enjoyed my relationship with Paul and will always remember the two of you fondly.  May God provide all the comfort you need in the days ahead.

With Love,  Adam J. Baillie NRHS

Dear Aunt Virginia and family,

Only this week did I learn about Uncle Paul's death.  Please accept my sincere sympathies.  As we all knew, he was quite a guy, one of a kind, and it's wonderful to read how he positively affected his students by serving as an academic mentor.

For me, he provided a stellar example of self discipline, and without even realizing it, he was a lifestyle mentor.   His subtle gift came at a critical juncture in my life and he made a vital contribution to my overall well-being and quality of life for all my years thereafter.  For that he will always be dear to me.

With deepest sympathies,

To the Erdy Family,
I was saddened to read of Paul's passing earlier this month. He was a kind and gentle person and teacher. I recall having him help me solve math problems on the big slate board behind my parent's home.  It was when he tried to help with English sentence diagramming that I decided to do those myself. We have nice memories of the time we spent when you rented from Mom and Dad on 31st Street.

I'm sorry to hear he had been ill since his stroke, so unlike him not to be busy and active.

May you find peace in the happy memories of family and friends and consolation in knowing his life was well spent in helping others.

Sincerely, Gloria Doraski Mantini

I am so sorry to hear of Paul’s passing.  He was a great individual, coach and teacher.  I have so many great memories and stories about Paul while coaching and teaching with him.  I am sorry I missed the services, but I was out of town.  Both Virginia and Paul will be in my prayers.  Thanks for being part of my life.
