Peter C. Delis
Peter C. Delis, 83, of Lorain died early Saturday morning, December 1, 2007
at the New Life Hospice at St. Joseph following a long illness.
Mr. Delis was born in Lorain on September 18, 1924 and was a lifelong
resident. He was a graduate of Lorain High School, class of 1942. He
attended the Kiski Prep School in Pennsylvania for two years
He was a medical technician with the US Army during WW II. He was a
member of Pattons 3rd Army and saw action during the Battle of the Bulge. He
earned the American Theater, EAME Theater with 3 bronze stars, Good Conduct
Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was also involved in the
Ardennes, the Rhineland and in the Central Europe campaigns.
He attended St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, and the Order of the
Ahepha. He was a member of Rotary Club, Lorain City Club and was formerly a
Mason.
In 1944, Mr. Delis began working at his family business, Delis
Furniture Store. He and his brothers purchased the business in 1962. He
became the sole owner in the late 1960's. He closed the store in 1982 and
retired. He then worked from 1982-1988 for the May Company. He then began
working as parttime as a sales consultant for North Coast Bedding until his
illness prevented his working.
He is survived by his wife, Olga (nee Kanillos) to whom he was married
on September 12, 1948. He is also survived by a daughter Caroline Simon of
Lorain, 1 grandchild, 2 great grandchildren, brothers Archie and Tom Delis
both of Florida, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kallie Skusa on Dec 13, 1999,
his parents Christ and Kalliope (nee Kapondis) Delis.
Friends may call Tuesday, December 4, 2007 from 2-4 & 7-9 at Schwartz,
Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH with
a Trisayion services at 7:00 PM.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM in
St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd, Lorain, Ohio at 11:00 AM
with Reverend Michael C. Gulgas officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township
will full military honors provided jointly by honor guards from the
American Legion Post 30 and the Veterans Of Foreigns Wars Post 451.
Family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to New Life

Olga,
I am so sorry to hear about the lost of Pete. You both were in my heart so
many years. I will have you in my memories always, as well as my friendship
in the past with Kallie. You were a big part of my childhood and I just
want to tell you I care. May God give you peace with the lost of Pete and
