William F. Krieg

     William F. Krieg, 78 of Avon passed away early Wednesday morning at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky.
     Mr. Krieg was born in Lorain, OH on January 20, 1928, living in Lorain until 2000 when he moved to Avon. He was a graduate Lorain High School class of 1946, attended Fenn College and received an associate degree from  Lorain County Community College. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving during WW II in Guam.
     He was a retired Railroad Engineer at Lake Terminal for 37 years retiring in 1984.
     Mr. Krieg was an avid Ohio State Football fan, active in the Democratic Party Lorain County, a member of the United Transportation Union, NARVRE and in his younger years played goalie for several hockey teams. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and reading.
     He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara (nee Winterton) Krieg and a brother Donald Krieg of Grosse Isle, MI and several nieces and nephews.
      Mr. Krieg was preceded in death by his parents William H. and Mildred R. (nee Berry) Krieg and a brother Harvey Krieg.
     Friends may call Friday, July 28, 2006, from  4-7 P.M. at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, Ohio  44052.
     Funeral Services at the funeral home will be Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. with Mr. Dick Feightner, officiating.
     Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery Lorain with full military honors provided jointly by American Legion Post 30 and the VFW Post 451 both in Lorain.
