Richard E. Knitter
Richard
E. Knitter, 79 of Lorain died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at his home
unexpectedly.
Mr. Knitter was born in Lorain, OH on March 22, 1927, and was a
lifelong resident. He was a 1945 graduate of Lorain high School and US Army
Air Force veteran. He served during WWII from 1945-1947 and obtained the
rank of Sergeant. He was awarded a medal for the serving during the
occupation of Japan.
He retired in 1993 from Ford Motor Corp. in Lorain as a
quality assurance analyst. He had been employed there since the plant's
opening. He was a member of the Sheffield Lake United Church of Christ in
Sheffield Lake.
He enjoyed gardening and oil painting.
He is survived by his daughter Lynette Moore of
Sheffield Lake, sisters Ruth Kneisel of Lorain, OH., JoAnn Tuma
of Seven Hills, OH, brothers Charles Parker of Sheffield Lake, Neil Parker
of Guernsey, OH, two grandchildren and and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean (nee Klaue) Knitter on
October 11, 2005, his parents Walter T. and Ilah P (Neiland) Knitter,
brothers Harold Parker, Bill Parker and sisters Rose Rym and Lois Mercado.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, May 25, 2006, at 11:00 AM in the
Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street,
Lorain, OH with Rev. Philip Kunz, pastor of St. John's United Church of
Christ in Lorain, officiating.
Burial will be in Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery Amherst Township,
OH.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the
Sheffield Lake United Church of Christ, 603 Sunset Dr, Sheffield Lake, Ohio
44054.
