Frances C. Elder
Frances C. Elder (nee Brown) 83, of Pahrump, Nev died Saturday, December 17,
2005 at the Nathan Adleson Hospice of Las Vegas, Nev following a brief
illness.
She was born on February 7, 1922 in Norfolk, VA. She lived most of her
life in Lorain County. She and her husband had a summer home on Catawba
Island and spent winters around the Eustis Florida area.
Mrs. Elder graduated from Lorain High School in the class of 1940-A.
She was a former member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer,
Service Guild and Couples Club. She was a member of the Stone City Chapter #
325 of the Order of Eastern Star in Amherst.
Mrs. Elder worked as a substitute driver for two routes of the Lorain
Morning Journal. She was a secretary for the Longfellow PTA. She had also
worked for the Lorain City auditor's office and the Old Sear's Store,
Lorain, in the audit department. She has also worked at the Lorain City
Income Tax Department and the Hanna Theater, Cleveland, under the New York
Theater Guild.
Survivors include her son Phil of Lorain, daughters Judy Hayden of
Mission, TX, Jane Kaczay, with whom she lived in Pahrump, Nev.; seven
grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and
three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harold J. Elder
in 2001; one grandson and one great grandson; her parents Arthur B. Brown in
1957 and Irma G. (nee Carver) Brown Sinclair in 1973 and her stepfather
Myron Sinclair in 1961.
Friends may call at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For
Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain, OH on Monday, May 15, 2006 from 4:00
PM until 6:00 PM. The Stone City Chapter # 325 of the Order of Eastern Star
will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home at 6:00 PM.
Graveside services in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain at 10:00 a.m. on
Tuesday, May 16, 2006 with Rev. Stephen Sedgwick, rector of the Episcopal
Church of the Redeemer, officiating.
